Now that the Christmas/New Year season has passed, the kids are back at school, and work routines are back in place, it's time to really think through your goals and what you'd like to achieve this year.
Did you write any New Year's Resolutions or are you more the type of person who just waits to see what will happen? Or, are you someone who writes a definitive goal list and takes action to make sure everything is crossed off before December 31? Whichever category you fall into, or even if it's somewhere in between these, you can be sure that things will happen for you this year, and especially if you focus on the things you want to see happen.
After more than a decade of treating clients, one thing I know for sure is, that health needs to be on your goal list. Good health doesn't just happen.
Having good health and rarely getting sick is really not that hard. Good nutrition, proper hydration, adequate sleep, some exercise and positive thought processes all go toward living in a healthy body. Detoxifying and giving your digestive tract a break a couple of times each year can help remove unwanted toxins and help to stimulate your own healing mechanisms. And if you are carrying extra kilos then your body is inflamed and will definitely benefit from you setting some health goals and making some changes.
How well your body detoxifies is a major factor in both preventing and healing from illness. You detoxify every day through your liver, kidneys, lungs and skin, but many people have compromised detoxification processes. eg. if you are constipated, your aren't detoxifying properly.
When you don't eliminate the bombardment of toxins that are a part of 21st Century life, they accumulate in your cells, usually fat cells, where your body locks them away so they can't damage your internal organs. And it's only when you assist your detox pathways to eliminate them, that they will be removed.
Did you know that hormones also need to be removed via detoxification pathways in your liver? Excess oestrogen is a huge problem for many women (and some men also), and creates issues such as heavy and painful periods, tender breasts, hot flushes, moodiness, just to name a few. Getting your detoxification pathways sorted out can help immensely.
So, maybe, if you've read this far, some of these things have spoken to you. Maybe you have some of the symptoms or you just feel yuk form over indulging in the festive season. I want to encourage you to set some health goals for 2021. February is a great time to get your goals down on paper because you have time to think and the hype of the New Year is a bit of a memory. Work out what you want your health to look like by December and do what you need to do to make it happen. Get your nutrition sorted, get more water in, go to bed an hour earlier each night, or whatever it might be that you need to do....make it happen.
